Symbolism is a key element of Freemasonry. The Masonic Colors have deep meanings. They are the main colors used among Freemasons in thier organization. Masonic Colors or for telling stories rather than creating styles. They hold deep meaning and even deeper explanations. Colors used among the Freemasons include: Blue, White, Black, Purple, Yellow and Gold, Red, and Green.
BLUE:
Blue is the symbol of heaven. It represents imortality and eternity, which is why ghost, spirits, and similar entites are depicted as blue. Ligher shades of Blue are associated with goodness. Royal Blue is associated with prestige. Blue is a religious color since priests and leaders of religious groups often wear blue.
Blue is a significant color in Freemasonry since its beginnings. Freemasonry started in a Lodge called The Blue Lodge. The Blue Lodge is where individuals receive their first three Masonic Degrees. Since blue represents special, sacred, wisdom, and perfection, Freemasons think highly of this color.
Blue is also the color of the Ancient Craft Degrees and it teaches of universal friendship and benevolence. Freemasons consider the color of The Masonic Virtues of Friendship and Brother Love.
Blue plays an important role in the Twenty Fourth Degree of Freemasonry. Blue appears on the tunic and apron of the Prince of the Tabernacle, whose teachings refer to the removal from the house of clay to the "house not made with hands, eternal, and in the heavens."
WHITE:
White is the symbol of innocence, purity, and light. It is also seen as a symbol of cleanliness. Masonic Royalty often wears white to portray the meaning of wholeness. It does not absorb any attention for itself mixed ith other colors. It is also described as color of resurrection, spirits, and mourning
Freemason regalia is the white apron, crafted from lambskin. The White Apron represents the innocence and hope and is a vital part of the Masonic Uniform.
BLACK:
Black is the symbol of death and darkness. It is the opposite of white. Black was not introduced as a color of mourning until the late 14th Century. It was then used as appropriate color for grieving. Within Masonry, black or dark suits are often worn by brothers to Lodge functions as a formality
PURPLE:
Purple is a symbol of wealth and royalty. Indigo represents spiritual visions and psychic abilities. This color is common in Masonic altar cloths and robes. It also represents Union.
YELLOW AND GOLD:
In Freemasonry, Yellow and Gold represent the sun. Silver represents the moon. Yellow and Gold are associated with sunlight, wisdom, riches. Yellow is a symbol of infinite wisdom and knowledge. It represents the best and worse of man. Yellow represents the sun's rays enlightening the day and bringing knowledge and power to the world
Yellow is important color in the Fellow Craft, the Second Degree, when a brother becomes enlightened. Freemasons are instructed in the Science of Art and they begin to understand some of the innermost secrtes of the Craft.
Yellow is used in the Order of the Golden Fleece, an order of chivalry. In Masonic ritual, the Fleece is compared to a Mason's badge, the White Apron. This highlights the fleece within the Craft.
RED:
Red symbolizes blood. Freemasons use it often as a symbol fpr sacrifice and struggle. Red is linked to wars, military, heroes, and fire. heat, destruction, injury, demons, rage, and injury. Red also represents Satan's fall from Grace and indicates the Fires of Hell. Freemasons use this color as a sign of devotion, faith, and courage. It is an emblem of faith, fortitude, fervency, and zeal. This color is seen in the Red Cross of Constantine, which is also known as the Masonic Military Order of the Red Cross.
GREEN:
Green symbolizes peace, happiness, resurrection, immortality, abundance, life, and resources. Freemasons focus on the color evergreen as a symbol of rebirth and a moral life. Dark green is associated with the blood of deities and represents divinity, the soul, and immortality
The Acacia Tree is an important symbol in Freemasonry and is referred often to as the Masonic Evergreen and is used as a symbol of life and rebirth. Aignng with the Masonic Beliefs in the afterlife, the Acacia Tree represents the imortal souls of the Freemasons. It also signifies a Mason is judged during his wordly activities and must live a moral life which is rewarded favorably by an eternity in heaven once he dies. Thus green plays a vital role in Masonic Teachings.
