NORTH FOX ISLAND: THE OTHER PEDO ISLAND

North Fox Island is part of the Fox Islands located on Lake Michigan. The islands are uninhabited now but it not always was the case. In the 1970s a wealthy millionaire, Frank Sheldon, and his business associates, Dyer Grossman, Adam Starchild, and Gerald Richards, created a fraudulent charity they named Brother Paul's Children's Mission as a cover to fly boys in Shelden's private plane to his island retreat. What it was really is a huge pedophile network for wealthy clients around the world.

FRANK SHELDEN:

Francis(Frank) Duffield Sheldon was born September 5, 1928 to Alger Shelden, Sr, and Francis Pits in Grosse Pointe, Wayne County, Michigan. Frank attended the Millbrook Preparatory School in New York before graduating from Yale with a Bachelor Degree in 1950. He went on later to get a Masters in Geology from Wayne State University. Frank was in the Michigan Air National Guard and ran oil and real estate businesses. which is where became a millionaire.

1960, the millionaire outbid the state government for the island 19 miles off the coast of Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula. The state offered the owner, an elderly widow, about $3,500. The Detroit Free Press reported Shelden gave her $20,000.

Frank Shelden died July, 9 1996 in Amsterdam Municipality, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. NOTE: Little is known about his personal life.

THE NORTH FOX ISLAND AIRSTRIP:

The first thing Frank Shelden built on North Fox Island for his pedophile Network to get established was the airstrip. He enlisted James Dudley Ramsey(John Ramsey's father and Jon Benet Ramsey’ grandfather). James Dudley Ramsey was the head of the Michigan Aeronautics Commission and responsible for the oversight of the North Fox Island airstrip. which was using Tax dollars from Michigan itself to promote a "charity boys camp"

James Dudley Ramsey ruled all the strips he approved of with an iron fist. He monitored them quite often. He would use Compromising material against a child to ensure that the pedophiles who were of immense status in government went undeterred during the molestation of children on an island.

BROTHER PAUL’S CHILDREN’S MISSION:

Brother Paul’s Children’s Mission was cofounded by Frank Shelden and his business partner, Gerald Richards. Richards(a gym teacher) would then go on to be the head recruiter for the Children’s Mission. Brother Paul’s Children’s Mission was advertised as a place where disadvantaged families would get a chance to go to a special summer camp on North Fox Island Richards would later say how easy it was to obtain children to go to the island:

“Its the easiest thing in the world to get a kid,” Richards said. “What you want is a kid with no moral, religious background and you’ve got it made. A kid whose father is absent or doesn’t care about him. They don’t have a chance. They are brain-washed and left sexually confused. They end up like the men who enticed them.”

Gerald Richards would recruit boys to go to Brother Paul’s Children’s Mission. The boys would be flown out to North Fox Island on Sheldon’s private airplane. Once there, the boys would be engaged during the day with the usual camp activities of hiking and swimming. It was not until it was time to take the boys to cabins when the boys were harmed.

The camp had a numerous famous, well-to-do sponsors. In exchange for their donations, which were completely tax-deductible contribution, the sponsors would be sent child pornography. If the the sponsors were wealthy enough they could visit North Fox Island in person and “visit” the boys first hand. One of the sponsors was Christopher Busch, the son of a senior financial executive at General Motors.

In July1976, Gerald Richards was arrested for molestation of an eight-year-old boy. Richards worked out a plea deal to be an informant and turn in all those involved with what went on on North Fox Island. It was not until December that a search warrant was issued to go after Frank Shelden directly. By this time he escaped and moved to the Netherlands.

HOW GERALD RICHARDS MET FRANK SHELDEN:

During the 1970s, The was a demand for child porn via The Boy Love movement. Boy Love newsletters were the source of child porn back then. To get the word out to other pedophiles and criminals, Boy Love would use carefully coded smoke signals and “dog whistles” contained in the newsletter’s classified ads. This allowed other pedophiles to make contact and to harm children. It was through these newsletters that Richards met Frank Shelden. Boys Love became a vast network under Frank Shelden and the network grew to expand in the US and abroad.

OAKLAND COUNTY CHILD KILLER:

During the period of 1976-1977 the Oakland County area of Michigan was in fear for its children becoming abducted and even worse, found dead. There were four missing children who were found dead at the time and left to be found in the snow alongside roads in the county. These children were later were called “Children of the Snow.” The case of the Oakland County Child Killer went cold. Names of children killed were: Mark Douglas Stebbins, 12; Jill Robinson, 12; Kristine Marie Mihelich, 10; and Timothy John King, 11.

It was not until later on in 1976 there would be a connection made between the Oakland County Child Killer, Frank Shelden and his child pornography ring, and North Fox Island itself. During the investigation of the Oakland County Child Killer, one boy told his parents about what actually went on during his visits to the Fox Island boys camp.

Search warrants and an arrest warrant for criminal sexual conduct were issued for Shelden in December 1976, but Shelden had already cleared out his Ann Arbor home and his cabin on North Fox and was in the Netherlands. Franks associate, Gerald Richards was arrested, on criminal sexual conduct charges.

WHAT HAPPENED TO NORTH FOX ISLAND:

In 2000, North Fox Island was purchased via Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund and Land Exchange Facilitation Fund dollars. Nowadays the island is for recreational use only. The dark history of the island is almost erased. There are a few empty buildings to tell the dark tale of what happened on the island over 50 years ago.
